My name is Kimber and I am a wife, business professional and artist residing in New Jersey.
I have a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Human Resource Management and have a full time career in this field. After hours, I am an embroidery designer & maker, and head boss over at KimArt Designs (www.kimartdesigns.com).
I have always had a deep passion for food and educating myself & others about food and where our food comes from. I aim to bridge the gap between urban living & a sustainable lifestyle. I want to inspire people to take small steps to growing their own food and how to be more aware of the resources around them.
The inspiration for this blog was sparked by the concept of gathering with loved ones & creating lifelong memories. I find comfort & happiness in the little things: conversations across the kitchen counter, long talks at the dining room table – long after the dishes have been cleaned off, and slowly sipping a good cup of coffee while sharing ideas and stories with someone you love.
All of my own family gatherings involve a big table of food, a line to get a plate, and lots of laughter and happiness. The joy I find in food comes from memories of my mother cooking my favorite dishes for me, always providing me comfort if I am tired or had a bad day, and sentimental memories of cooking alongside her in the kitchen.
Here I will be sharing my favorite recipes, along with photos, tips, and variations for vegetarian, gluten free, etc.
My passion to learn has driven me to interview and get hands on with farmers and small business owners of all kinds in my community. I hope you will join me on my new journey and learn from the stories and experiences these wonderful men and women have been so generous to share with me!
I started Where We Gather to share my recipes and photos with readers. A lot of work goes into cooking my recipes, styling my photos, and writing my recipes/blog posts.
